Questions for Players & Trackers
How accurate is the patch data you publish?
PatchPulse cross-references official developer releases, SteamDB commit logs, and verified community submissions. Our editorial team — led by senior analyst Mara Kowalski — reviews every entry before it goes live. We maintain a 99.4% accuracy rate across the last 12 months, measured against post-launch official patch notes. If you spot a discrepancy, use the "Report Inaccuracy" button on any patch card; our team typically resolves flagged items within 2 hours.
How often are patch notes updated?
For titles on active development cycles — such as Helldivers 2, Warframe, and Enshrouded — we publish updates within minutes of an official release. For slower-update games like Stardew Valley or Hollow Knight: Silksong (pre-release tracking), notes refresh weekly. Our automated ingestion pipeline monitors 340+ game endpoints around the clock, and human editors fill gaps for titles without structured APIs.
How do I track specific games?
Search for a title using the global search bar, then click the "Follow" toggle on its patch card. Followed games appear on your personalized dashboard with real-time badges when new notes land. You can follow up to 50 titles on a free account and up to 200 on PatchPulse Pro. Follow lists sync across devices when you sign in with a PatchPulse account.
Can I get notifications when a patch drops?
Yes. Free accounts receive email digests once daily for all followed titles. PatchPulse Pro subscribers ($4.99/month) get instant push notifications via the mobile app and configurable email alerts — you can choose per-title, per-category (e.g., only "Balance Changes"), or a custom keyword filter. Discord webhook integration is also available for Pro users; simply paste your webhook URL in Settings > Integrations.
What platforms do you cover?
PatchPulse tracks patch notes for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Microsoft Store), PlayStation (PS4/PS5), Xbox (Series X|S / One), Nintendo Switch, and mobile (iOS/Android). We currently index 1,200+ active titles. Console-specific notes — like PS5-exclusive performance patches — are tagged separately so you can filter by platform.
Do you cover indie and early-access titles?
Absolutely. Roughly 38% of our catalog is indie or in Early Access. Titles like V Rising, Lethal Company, and Palworld receive the same treatment as AAA releases. If a game has fewer than 10,000 concurrent players on Steam, it may be flagged as "Community-Verified" — meaning the notes were submitted and confirmed by our community rather than pulled from an official API. These are clearly labeled on each card.
Developer
Questions for Studios & Publishers
How can I submit official patch notes?
Studios can submit patch notes through three channels: (1) the Developer Portal at dev.patchpulse.io, where you can paste markdown or upload formatted documents; (2) our RSS/Atom feed endpoint — push a structured XML feed and we'll auto-ingest it; or (3) direct API integration using your studio's API key. All submissions are reviewed within 30 minutes during business hours (UTC-5). Verified studio accounts receive a blue checkmark badge on every patch card.
Is there an API for third-party integrations?
Yes. PatchPulse offers a RESTful API with endpoints for patch retrieval, changelog diffs, and title metadata. Free tier: 100 requests/day, rate-limited to 10 req/min. Pro API tier ($29/month): 10,000 requests/day, 60 req/min, with access to historical patch archives going back to 2019. Full documentation, SDKs (Python, Node.js, C#), and a sandbox environment are available at dev.patchpulse.io/docs. We also provide a GraphQL endpoint for complex queries.
Can I correct or update patch notes after publication?
Verified studio accounts can edit their own patch entries at any time via the Developer Portal. Edits create a versioned changelog — readers can toggle between versions using the "Revision History" tab on each patch card. For corrections to community-submitted notes, file a correction request through the Portal and our editorial team will apply the fix within 1 hour, with attribution to your studio.
Do you support structured patch data (JSON/YAML)?
Yes. If your studio publishes structured patch manifests (we accept JSON, YAML, or our proprietary PulseML format), we can parse and display them with full fidelity — including categorized change lists, version comparison trees, and rollback notices. Studios like Arrowhead Game Studios and Coffee Stain Studios already use structured feeds, which is why their patch cards show interactive diff views.
General
General Questions
What is PatchPulse?
PatchPulse is a real-time patch notes aggregation platform founded in 2021 by ex-game-journalists Tom Brennan and Aisha Patel. We ingest, verify, and present game update information across 340+ endpoints so players, content creators, and developers never miss a balance change, bug fix, or new feature. Our platform serves over 420,000 monthly active users across the web and mobile apps.
Is PatchPulse free to use?
The core experience — browsing patch notes, following up to 50 games, and receiving daily email digests — is completely free with no ads. PatchPulse Pro ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) adds instant push notifications, unlimited follows (200 titles), Discord webhook integration, advanced filtering, and access to the full historical archive. We also offer team plans for studios at $19/seat/month with SSO and shared dashboards.
How do you handle patch notes for games that shut down?
When a game is officially discontinued — like Destiny 1 or Planetside 2 — we archive its complete patch history and mark the title as "End of Life." Archived patches remain searchable and accessible forever. We do not remove historical data. If a game revives (see: Unturnn), we reactivate its feed and resume tracking.
Can I export patch notes for my own use?
Free users can copy individual patch entries. Pro users can export full patch histories per title in Markdown, HTML, or PDF format via the "Export" button on each title page. Bulk exports (entire catalogs) require an API key and are available on Pro API and Team plans. All exports include a PatchPulse attribution footer.
Who is on the PatchPulse team?
PatchPulse is run by a 14-person team based across London, Austin, and Kyoto. Tom Brennan (Editor-in-Chief) and Aisha Patel (CTO) founded the company in 2021. Our editorial desk includes six senior analysts who specialize in specific genres — competitive shooters, live-service RPGs, strategy games, and indie titles. The engineering team maintains our ingestion infrastructure, API, and mobile apps. We publish monthly transparency reports detailing data accuracy metrics and platform coverage growth.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
Use the feedback widget (pulsing icon in the bottom-right corner of any page) to submit bug reports or feature requests directly. Reports are routed to our engineering or product teams and typically receive a response within 48 hours. You can also join our public Discord server (discord.gg/patchpulse) for real-time discussion, or email hello@patchpulse.io for longer-form suggestions.
